Factory Act 1948 as amended in 86-87 require regular monitoring of work space
environment and of the exposure of workmen to harmful pollutants and toxic
chemicals. The increasing general awareness of atmospheric air pollution and t
serious impacts of pollutants and hazards to the health and well-being of
industrial workers has resulted in greater stress on accurate, reliable and
frequent assessment of work space pollution and workerexposure. The data so
generated are needed for corrective measures to safe guard the workers.
Ecotech IAS 001 Personal Sampler has been developed to fulfill monitoring
requirements of toxic particulates present in workplace environment and its
exposure to workers working in the area.
In present monitoring sampler designed such so that it can remain attached on
worker for measurement of workers exposure to toxic dust and fumes thus workers
keep moving in the shop-floor as part of their normal duties while sampling.
IAS 001 uses a light weight, battery operated pump enclosed in a compact
aluminum cabinet provided with a clip so that the sampling system can be belt
fitted.
The total weight of the instrument is less than one kilogram.
The IAS is capable of sampling air at flow rates
ranging from 0.5 -3lpm which
is the desired sampling rate
for most of the dust (e.g. silica,
asbestos, oxides of lead,
cadmium, chromium, arsenic
manganese etc.)
Rechargeable Li-ion batteries have been used with sufficient storage to operate
the system for a full shift of 8 hours making it easier to compare worker’s dose
to the TLV levels specified. A separate charger is provided with the IAS 001
sampler to recharge the batteries overnight.
The filter holder of the IAS 001 sampler is designed to accept standard 25mm
(1’’) diameter filters.
